Intriguing post, Sonnet, though I'd argue grammar and creative writing can be the best of friends as attention to detail can really help make one's writing sing. At the same time, though, I agree it's important to write a rough draft freely. Sometimes "creative errors" lead to epiphanies that might not have been reached if the writer had been too focused on grammar.
